Participation Requirements:
All participants must have successfully completed the Foundation Course for Cosmetic Acupuncture taught by Paul Robin (Head of TCM at the College of Chinese Medicine and Chairman of The Acupuncture Society) at CCM's 1 Harley Street Teaching Clinic.
Continued professional development opportunities exist alongside this course to bring practitioners to Level 2. A review of skills is a requirement for all level 1 participants.
Course Objectives
The course consists of one morning of theoretical sessions, followed by a full demonstration of facial and auricular acupuncture and several hours of practical training during which participants are required to practice on each other. Participants must consent to practicing this technique on each other during the course.
The knowledge gained will allow participants to treat the
following cosmetic conditions safely and confidently:
Lines and Wrinkles – Discoloration - Dull Complexion – Dryness - Sagging - Loss of Muscle Tone

Kirsten is a lecturer in ‘Practitioner Research’ and ‘Anti-Ageing Treatments’ and has had extensive training in various styles of Facial, Auricular and Whole Body Acupuncture. She has developed her own system, combining the most effective and comprehensive of treatments.
Kirsten runs a TCM and Facial Rejuvenation Clinic in North-West London, is a consultant for Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicines at a Golders Green Medical Centre and a Clinician and Lecturer at the College of Chinese Medicine in Regents College, University of London Connaught Hall and 1 Harley Street.
With a special research interest in Neurobiology and Signal Transduction, Kirsten is currently studying Forensic Sciences and Molecular Biology.
She is a member of the Acupuncture Society, The Royal Society of Medicine (Neurosciences and Pharmaceutical Research) and is on the NoCLoR (Department of Health Research Consortium).
Course Outline
The course is based on two day sessions plus a 1 day foundation course, with a strong emphasis on practical training. The theoretical lesson gives an overview of the following:
The Mechanisms of Acupuncture: A PowerPoint presentation on recent research in the field of molecular biology and electro-physiology and a view on acupuncture in science. The
presentation aims to demonstrate who acupuncture works on a cellular level and hence by which mechanism it appears to slow down and reverse the effects of ageing.
The Mechanisms of Ageing: Comprehensive lecture notes and email downloads will be provided on the following: Endocrine System Ageing, Immune System Ageing, Conjunctive Tissue
and Skin Ageing, Cellular Ageing, Macromolecular Ageing, Histology of Ageing and Inflammation.
Mechanisms of Ageing in Chinese Medicine: Changes in the Endocrine System, Organs and Body Fluids, Heat and Dryness and other factors. Environmental Damage: Importance of
Lifestyle, Diet, etc.
The practical training: This consists of a full demonstration of the treatment, followed by the participants practicing on each other and/or models if required. All materials are provided.
Treatment discussion: Body Acupuncture (Theory and Practice), Facial Acupuncture (Theory and Practice), Preventing Premature Ageing - Lifestyle, Diet, Supplements, etc.
Certification and Membership Requirements:
Participants are awarded our Cosmetic Acupuncture CPD Certificate.

Acupuncture Society Membership as a Cosmetic Acupuncture Practitioner Member and Members must obtain professional indemnity insurance

Members are entitled to use the initials MAcSCA and the annual membership renewal to the Acupuncture Society is £50.
Participants will also be invited to join our Cosmetic Acupuncture Network. In order to maintain your membership you will be required to participate in one CPD event (1day) per year,
such as the Cosmetic Acupuncture Refresher or further professional development Courses, First Aid Course and others (see website).
